Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
McLeish Estate vineyards are in Australia’s oldest wine growing region; the Hunter Valley, planted in 1985. Our Chardonnay is hand harvested from vines grown in friable red duplex loam soil– Fruit thinning was carried out on the single vineyard to consistently producing the purest and brightest signatures of Hunter Chardonnay.
Production Notes
McLeish Estate started harvesting the Chardonnay on the 15th of January.
The optimal conditions prevailed with long warmer days, the Vintage conditions throughout the white harvest continued to be warm leading to excellent ripeness and primary fruit characters. This Chardonnay has been matured in a series of French oak barriques prior to bottling
Winemaker Notes
The 2024 growing season was one of the quickest harvests I can remember in the Hunter Valley with all fruit in the winery within a month and it has produced the most exception wines from a very warm, precise vintage.
The estate vineyard was planted in 1985 on rich red clay loam soil, the fruit was handpicked and the juice was transferred directly to a selection of French oak barriques for 10 months maturation, the assemblage was from a selection of new and old barrels, with some partial natural malolactic fermentation. Creating an elegant balance of fruit, vibrant acidity, creamy texture and brioche oak.
Food Pairing Notes
White Meats, Seafood’s and Risotto.
